ADULT. interview featured on the new Alternate Take

The (almost) in-studio interview with ADULT. is featured on the latest edition of Alternate Take on dublab. It’s been several years since we talked on an official level about their music, but it felt like we hadn’t missed a beat.

The overriding topic was about perception, in keeping with the name of their new record, called Perception is/as/of Deception. The record was recorded before anyone knew the name COVID-19, but there are themes that apply to today’s pandemic post-release. We also talked about ADULT. as an art project, and the definition of The Real McCoy (one of my favorite moments from our conversation).

The interview is tucked in between some mostly new music from electronic producer Boerd, the smooth grooves of Pantha du Prince, and a really mellow break from the usual techno intensity of Charlotte de Witte. Then there’s the daydream melodies of Peaking Lights, followed by Automatic remixed by Peaking Lights, and Erik Hall with a bold solo interpretation of composer Steve Reich.

Yes, I will post those images we talked about shortly when I share a dedicated segment of this interview that will be available via dublab. For now, you can hear the entire interview and view the playlist on Alternate Take.
